The next-generation MacBook Air featuring the powerful M4 chip is ready for launch, and it also looks like Apple is ready to launch its 2025 lineup with it. Both 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models will get updated and Apple is expected to release them between January and March 2025, reports indicate. This will follow the Cupertino giant’s tradition of breaking new product launches throughout the year.
Apple’s M4 MacBook Air: What to Expect
The new MacBook Air would not necessarily get a dramatic change in design, but rather internal improvements. There will be a major highlight in performance improvements fueled by the M4 chip. The accommodations on these upgrades are likely to feature higher base RAM, as the M3 MacBook Air boosted base memory from 8 GB to 16 GB.

Another promising change could be the dropping of the existing 1080p FaceTime HD camera and being replaced by a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View support. This MacBook Air upgrade will add more video capability which, for the professionals and the casual user alike, is something that would be nice.
Apple’s 2024 Wrap-Up and What’s Next
Apple shook up the tech world in 2024 with the launch of the M3 MacBook Air, M4-powered iPad models, iPhone 16 series, and the new MacBook Pro featuring an M4 chip. New-gen MacBook Pro launches company off launch spree, paves the way for 2025 freshness. The next-gen MacBook Air is set to be followed by professional-grade device updates.
Upcoming Mac Studio and Mac Pro Refresh
The Mac Studio and Mac Pro will see a refresh after the MacBook Air. Starting earlier this year, the Mac Studio was famously rumored to launch in early 2025, but this could be as late as March through June. The M4 Ultra or M4 Max processors will likely be featured. The company is also predicted to include Thunderbolt 5 ports, for faster data transfer speeds and better connectivity.

The newer Mac Pro should arrive in the summer of 2025 and skip the M3 generation entirely. Hydra, the M4 Ultra’s codename, will run straight to the M4 Ultra chip. This chip boasts a 32-core CPU and an 80-core GPU, double the performance of the M4 Max chip that we currently have. The Mac Pro, which supports up to 512GB of unified memory, promises a big performance jump.
The M4-fueled lineup, and continues to boast of Apple’s commitment to innovation. The launch of the next-gen MacBook Air, powered by M2, could catapult Apple as they kick off 2025 with products at the cutting edge of the industry.
