A survey of iPhone users revealed that artificial intelligence (AI) plays a significant role in their decision when choosing a phone. The announcement of Apple Intelligence generated a lot of excitement among fans, who believed that some of its features could make their lives easier. However, users feel that the current Apple Intelligence features do not provide any real value.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, a SellCell survey analyzed mobile users’ interest in artificial intelligence. The survey focused on both Apple and Samsung users, providing insight into what iPhone and Galaxy owners prioritize. As expected, the results showed that AI is an important factor when making a purchase, but its current implementation still fails to impress.

The survey found that iPhone users show greater interest in AI compared to Samsung users. Among the features introduced in 2024, Apple fans consider writing tools to be the most significant, followed by notification summaries, priority messages, photo editing, and smart replies in Mail and Messages. However, most users feel that these features do not enhance their overall experience.

“Smartphone users are generally dissatisfied with existing AI features,” SellCell reported. “The survey revealed that 73% of Apple Intelligence users and 87% of Galaxy AI users found the new features to be ‘not very valuable’ or ‘add little to no value’ to their mobile experience.”

It is worth noting that the survey was conducted before the release of iOS 18.2, which includes ChatGPT integration and other new features.

Iphone users dont see the value

Apple Intelligence “Does Not Add Value” to the User Experience

The survey responses reveal some surprising details. For instance, 58.4% of respondents admitted they had not used the Apple Intelligence features available in iOS 18.1. Among those who had, most stated that the features did not offer much value and that other options on their phone were more important to them.

While the survey focuses on users aged 18 and older living in the U.S., it provides a glimpse into how people perceive Apple Intelligence and AI in general. A large number of respondents were either unfamiliar with the technology or hadn’t updated their iPhones to iOS 18.1.

Another challenge for Apple is the availability and regional implementation of its features. Many Apple Intelligence features won’t be available until 2025, which has led to a decline in user interest. Furthermore, some features will not launch simultaneously in the European Union, causing additional frustration among users.

Despite the limitations of Apple Intelligence, 79% of users are satisfied with their iPhones and would not consider switching to Samsung to use Galaxy AI.
