Forget the old way of sending photos and videos through WhatsApp. The app is being updated with a new format that’s more accessible, faster, and easier to use. Plus, it removes a step that almost nobody used but was always there. The best part is that learning how to use this new button is very simple—you just need to know a couple of things.
Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
First, WhatsApp is changing the camera-shaped button at the bottom of chats. Until now, this button opened the camera to take photos, but it will soon have a new design and function. Instead of taking photos, the button will now let you send images and videos directly from your gallery.
When you tap the button, a new pop-up window will appear from the bottom, allowing you to view and select photos and videos from your gallery. In other words, WhatsApp has added a shortcut to your images, making it easy to send them without leaving the app, opening other tabs, or doing extra steps. Just two taps, and you can send a photo from your gallery.
But the new features don’t stop there. This new section also lets you choose to send high-quality photos—just select the photo or video you want and tap the ‘HD’ icon at the top right. Why is this button here now?
Well, WhatsApp has removed the extra step for editing photos. That screen where you could draw on the image, add text, or apply filters is now skipped. This step, which isn’t usually needed for quick sharing, has been removed to make the process simpler and faster.
However, if you still want to edit an image, you can use the traditional method. Just tap the attach icon, go to your gallery, and select the photo. The editor will open before you send the image, allowing you to make any changes.
WhatsApp is making it easier to send photos and videos.
Once the app is updated, sending a photo or video from your gallery will be much simpler. You won’t need to navigate through multiple screens, open the gallery, or go through the editor. Just tap on the camera icon, select the image, and press send.
When will you be able to use this new feature? WhatsApp has already shown this functionality in its beta version, so it still needs to do some testing before it’s available on all mobile phones worldwide. The good news is that this process usually only takes a few weeks.
This means that very soon, you’ll be able to enjoy this new interface in your WhatsApp app. Although the preview screenshots are from the Android beta, it’s very likely that WhatsApp will release this feature on iPhones at the same time.
