WhatsApp is about to make one of its most important changes in recent years. In fact, it is already ready, and it’s just a matter of time before it moves from the beta version to mobile phones around the world. Although this change is very relevant and highly requested, it is much simpler than it seems. What is it about? The app’s dark mode is going to be transformed.

That’s right! After four years of the same dark mode, WhatsApp is finally changing it. There won’t be a new interface, no modifications to the buttons, or changes to the location of the current functions—just a change of color. This is something many users have been asking for since this option first arrived in the app, and now it is finally becoming a reality.
WhatsApp is going to stop using a dark mode with a grayish tone. The app will implement a change that turns all gray areas into almost black. While it’s not pure black, this new design allows for a much darker interface than the current one. However, this means that OLED screens won’t be able to turn off the pixels to display it, but the difference is still noticeable.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has switched from color #0b141a to #0a1014, though you won’t notice this change on your phone yet. The new dark mode is currently being tested in beta, and it will take a little longer for it to reach smartphones worldwide.
So now you know: if WhatsApp’s dark mode looks much darker soon, it’s because the new version has been implemented. For many users, it should have been this way from the start, while others may not welcome the change. However, it’s important to know that there’s no choice but to accept it.
Combine the New Dark Mode with WhatsApp Themes.
In case you haven’t been keeping up with the latest WhatsApp news, the app has just introduced Themes, allowing users to modify interface colors like never before. With this update, the new dark mode can be combined with more muted tones in chats and a low-brightness background for conversations, enhancing the dark effect even further.
Doing this is extremely simple: just go to the chats section, click on ‘Themes,’ and select the colors that suit you best and match the new dark mode. Of course, to achieve the perfect interface, you will need to wait a little while until the new version reaches your mobile.
