Up to 4 Hours of Recording: Double the Battery Life
DJI has addressed one of the common weaknesses in action cameras with the Osmo Action 5 Pro: battery life. While most action cameras typically offer around 2 hours of recording time, this new model impressively doubles that, providing up to 4 continuous hours of recording.
The company noted that this extended battery life is made possible by its new 1,950 mAh battery, a 4nm chip that uses less energy, and several proprietary algorithms. These innovations help maintain high quality and resolution while significantly reducing power consumption.
The fast charging feature enhances usability, allowing you to get 2 hours of recording time with just about 15 minutes on DJI’s 30W charger. Additionally, the brand has confirmed that these performance figures remain nearly the same even in extreme conditions, such as at -20°C.
The Osmo Action 5 Pro boasts an impressive dynamic range
A key improvement in image quality. DJI has integrated a 13.5-stop dynamic range, allowing it to compete with professional cameras. In fact, it claims to be the first action camera featuring this advanced technology.
This means the Osmo Action 5 Pro can capture dark areas with clarity while avoiding overexposure in brighter sections of the shot. Additionally, it supports 10-bit D-LOG M photography and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) recording, features that will be especially valued by color-focused editors.
The Osmo Action 5 Pro is designed for all sports and scenarios
Ensuring versatility for every user. Its diving mode adjusts colors and lighting to enhance underwater shots. Additionally, thanks to its sensors, the camera automatically starts recording when submerged and stops when it detects you’re back on the surface.
For those who require constant visual feedback, DJI has equipped the camera with two screens that are 16% larger than those on the Action 4 Pro. Despite this increase in screen size, the overall dimensions of the camera remain compact, giving it an impressive body-to-panel ratio that rivals its competitors.
Finally, the Osmo Action 5 Pro boasts impressive strength and durability. DJI claims you can use this camera in almost any situation without a protective case. It can even be submerged up to 20 meters for extended periods while diving.
Considering its price, design, and advanced technologies, the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro stands up well against the GoPro Hero 13, offering comparable features on paper.
