In the upcoming Diablo 4 expansion, “Vessel of Hatred,” your damage numbers might be lower at first. A “stat squish” is likely coming.
Since Diablo 4’s release, players have created builds that can deal damage in the sextillions. Although unintended, damage in the billions has become common. The expansion might change that.
Just like in Blizzard’s MMO World of Warcraft, stats will rise with the expansion, leading to a stat squish.
YouTuber Confirms Stat Squish
In a video preview of the new Spiritborn class, players guessed that a stat squish and a paragon system similar to Diablo 3 might be introduced.
YouTuber DonTheCrown attended a major event with journalists, streamers, and YouTubers at Blizzard before the “Vessel of Hatred” announcement. He got to play the expansion and check out the stat squish. He discusses it in his video below.
He mentions that the armor cap is now set at 1,000 points, and characters’ health points have been reduced.
Also, the damage numbers have been scaled down. We expect the developers to discuss this upcoming stat squish during today’s livestream (August 29, 2024).
The livestream will focus on the “Vessel of Hatred” expansion, releasing on October 8th. You can watch it on Diablo 4’s YouTube channel.
