The Blizzard have released the patch notes of Diablo 4 for the upcoming update to version 1.5.1, which includes key adjustments to the Hell Hordes based on player feedback.
Patch 1.5.1 for Diablo 4 arrives on August 20, 2024. Players will receive compensation for the affix chest bug. There are also changes to the Infernal Hordes and various bug fixes. Notable updates include chest reusability with gold and more Burning Aether during Horde waves through Infernal Gifts.

Diablo 4: Patch 1.5.1 – Official Patch Notes
Hell Hordes
- You can now reuse the chest of gold treasures.
- The sound effects for collecting Burning Aether have been made clearer.
- The following Infernal Gifts have been updated to offer increased rewards:
- The Exalted Elite: Burning Aether amount increased from +1 to +2.
- The Rising Elite: Burning Aether amount increased from +1 to +2.
- The Unstoppable Elite: Burning Aether amount increased from +1 to +2.
- The Burning Rain: The Burning Aether reward at the end of a wave increased from 1-3 to 3-9.
User Interface and User Experience
- The trade chat is now separated by world tiers.
- You will now receive a notification when a new patch is available.
- Party leaders can now promote another member to the leader position.
- Newly created characters will always appear at the top of the character list.
- You can now change the clan name.
Miscellaneous
- All players will receive a chest containing legendary items with guaranteed Greater affixes. This compensates for the issue in patch 1.5.0, where players did not receive items with guaranteed Greater affixes from various sources.
- The Alchemist Control hardening affix for Hunters has been re-enabled with the following adjustments:
- The Bladestorm Magnitude affix has been removed from Hunter Innovation and is now found on Alchemist Control.
- The ranks of the Cunning Attacks affix have been removed from Alchemist Control.
- Additional visual effects have been added to Archer Corpse projectiles, making it easier to track their origin.

Accessibility
- Fixed a bug where the “Hover Reading” setting did not work.
- Fixed a bug where the screen reader read Roman numerals as letters.
User Interface and User Experience
- Fixed a bug where character stats in town were inaccurate when certain items were equipped.
- Fixed a bug where the term “Compass Affixes” appeared twice in the tooltip for the Infernal Compass.
- Fixed a bug where the Echo of Varshan’s name appeared as “Tormented Echo of Varshan.”
- Fixed a bug that caused an error when comparing a Mythic Unique Ancestral Item.
- Fixed a bug where the Whisper icon for defeating the Blood Maiden overlapped with the Cursed Ritual icon on the map.
- Fixed a bug where the icons for Infernal Gifts in the Infernal Hordes were different on the minimap and the world map.
- Fixed a bug where Treasure Goblins left a permanent portal in the Helltide.
- Fixed a bug where the poison visual effect remained on enemy corpses if they died while poisoned.
- Fixed a bug where thorns granted by the Tempered tempering affix did not display in character stats.
- Fixed a bug where the Equipment inventory tab opened for players using a controller when using an Abyssal Scroll.
- Fixed a bug where the minimap was incorrect in certain Infernal Hordes instances.
Gameplay
Hell Hordes
- Fixed a bug where Hellbloods did not spawn as often as intended when an Infernal Gift of Hellfire was active.
- Fixed a bug where the Infernal Gift pedestal “The Pursuing Devil” reappeared after interacting with it.
- Fixed a bug where the all-resistance reduction of the Infernal Gift The Withered Wanderer did not actually reduce resistance.
- Fixed a bug where Treasure Goblins during a Hellhorde encounter never died, preventing wave progression.
- Fixed a bug in local co-op where one player could pick up the other player’s Burning Aether after they died.
Quests and Dungeons
- Fixed a bug where the player could respawn on the other side of the destination while protecting Locran for the To the Edge of the Abyss quest.
- Fixed a bug where monsters spawned endlessly during the Seething Mountain quest.
- Fixed a bug where the fight with the Istel Tornado during the Rising Hells quest could last indefinitely.
- Fixed a bug where progress could be blocked in the Sins of the Willing quest if the player died during the ritual.
- Fixed a bug where the second Spidercaller did not appear in Sirocco Cave, preventing progression.
- Fixed a bug where Stormbane’s Wrath did not deal damage.
- Fixed a bug where the Aspect of Inescapable Fate could appear on chest armor through a seasonal questline.
General
- Fixed a bug where the Tormented Echo of the Beast in Ice dropped the same amount of Needlepierced Dolls as the normal version.
- Fixed a bug where the Deathtrap and Stealth visual effects were not visible to other players.
- Fixed a bug where higher ranks of the Wall of Fire did not have a blue flame effect.
- Fixed a bug where Dungeon Whispers did not appear in the Cleansing Sands zone.
- Fixed a bug where multiple Shadow Totems could appear when switching weapons while using the Umbracrux.
- Fixed a bug where Doom Hearts could be lost when using Cursed Altars after a Helltide ended.
- Fixed a bug where some affixes, including the one on the Blood Artificer’s Cuirass, did not roll as a Greater Affix.
- Fixed a bug where players could become stuck when interacting with the World Tier Statue in Kyovashad while using a Town Portal.
- Fixed a bug where players could not exit basements using the Exit Dungeon skill.
- Fixed a bug where Echo of Lilith could not be staggered during the first phase of the fight.
- Fixed a bug where Echo of Lilith could remain permanently airborne if staggered immediately after landing.
- Fixed a bug where Echo of Lilith did not progress to the second phase of the fight under certain conditions.
- Fixed a bug where the Summoned Lightning Spear did not consume stacks of Crackling Energy or grant the damage increase bonus.
- Fixed a bug where completion did not affect certain affixes for the following unique items:

- Fixed a bug where players could not interact with various objects.
