All Information About Season 5 Of Diablo 4
The wrath of Hell is making its presence known with the creation of helltides, but this is just the start of the demon invasion. The servants of the Lord of Hatred have been awakened and are gearing up for their endless servitude.
Infernal Hordes is a wave-based feature that you can tackle alone or with friends. It’s available in both the Seasonal and Eternal Realms and begins in World Tier III after you complete a quest chain. Between waves, you can select Infernal Gifts, which offer both blessings and curses to enhance your run. These gifts can optionally increase the strength of your enemies and the final rewards you receive.
Demons are clustered into swarms, and their numbers keep growing in the Realm of Hate. You have a limited number of resurrections as you battle through the infernal hordes, and if you run out, you will be consumed by the servants of Hell.
During the Abyssal Hordes, collect Burning Aether to unlock various rewards at the end of your run. After the final wave, you will face the Cruel Council—powerful corrupted priests, each with their own unique type of attack.
Use the Burning Aether to unlock enticing Treasures of Hell, which provide summoning materials, guaranteed Greater Affix items, and a chance to obtain new unique and legendary items. Hell is home to fierce enemies. Aether Fiends hide in every corner to disrupt your efforts. Beware of Aether Lords, who may appear with the hellish hordes and burn with an intensity you have never witnessed. The cries for fresh prey may even summon an infernal variant of the Butcher to bring chaos.
Earn or craft Infernal Compasses, which drop from various long-term content in Sanctuary, to gain access to the Infernal Hordes. Infernal Compasses scale with your level, increasing the intensity within the Infernal Hordes.
Infernal Gifts
The waves of Infernal Hordes last 60 seconds. Survive, and you will be tempted with an Infernal Gift. These temptations offer you a choice between three different curses and blessings to empower the Infernal Hordes and increase their intensity. This makes your run more challenging (and rewarding) if you can handle the difficulty. Choose wisely, as Infernal Gifts stack during your Infernal Horde run. Many may be active simultaneously!
These nuanced blessings and curses also affect your showdown with the Cruel Council. Their power could either be your downfall or provide you with a significant advantage.
Burning Aether
As the masses of infernal enemies try to crush you from all sides, you must look for Burning Aether, your most valuable asset in the Realm of Hate. Burning Aether is obtained by killing Aether Fiends and Aether Lords or by smashing Soul Towers and Aetheric Masses. Each of these actions will reward you with 2 Burning Aether.
Burning Aether is an individual loot that you receive whether you play alone or in a group, although your trusty companion will help you collect it. You do not lose Burning Aether upon death, but if you exhaust your limited revives, you will be removed from this infernal arena and will not be able to unlock any of Hell’s Treasures.

Treasures of Hell
Surviving the endless hordes and defeating the Cruel Council will reward you with Treasures of Hell. These treasures contain completion materials, gold, and items with the coveted Greater Affix. They also offer the best chance of obtaining new unique items that seem to be forged by Hell itself.
These chests are filled with legendary and unique items, summoning materials, and gold. Treasures of Hell cost 20 Aether, but if you defeat enough infernal enemies to earn 60 Aether, you can unlock the Greater Equipment Treasures and are guaranteed to receive an item with a Greater Affix.
Hell Compass
The key to unlocking the hordes of Hell lies in the Hell Compasses—dark tools full of occult knowledge that open the gates of Hell itself.
These diabolical keys range from level 1-8 and can be crafted at the Occultist using Seal of Power and Forgotten Souls. The level of the Infernal Compass increases the initial difficulty of monsters and improves rewards while reducing the number of resurrections.
Earn Infernal Compasses by opening Chests of Secrets or Chests of Steel, and by defeating Doomsayers in the Infernal Tide, where they are guaranteed to drop. There is also a 75% chance of them dropping from Whisper Chests. Higher level Infernal Compasses also drop from long-running content such as Nightmare Dungeons and the Pit.
Intrepid wanderers in Sanctuary will also find Abyssal Scrolls that allow you to upgrade your Infernal Compass without having to return to town. This lets you increase the potency of your Infernal Compass as you explore Sanctuary’s many dilapidated corners.
Fight Against Cruel Priests
Not seen since the events of Diablo II, these acolytes have become champions of the very demon they were meant to oppose. At the end of each Hellhorde run, the Cruel Council will request your presence.
There are 5 members of the Cruel Council, each with unique skills. Each time you face the Cruel Council, 3 different members will be randomly selected for you to fight. Beware of their unique skills and their numerous combinations.
Once you have dealt enough damage to the Cruel Council, their attacks will become more powerful. Stay alert if you want to survive. After defeating the Cruel Council, they will grant you Burning Aether, with the total amount depending on the world level. Treasures of Hell will appear in their chambers. Spend your Burning Aether to unlock the rewards inside.
Face Hellish Enemies in Hellbreak Dungeons
New Hellbreak dungeons have been added to the Seasonal Realm, giving a preview of what’s to come with the Hell Horde feature. Look out for these dark passages scattered throughout the land.
In the Hellbreak dungeons, you’ll encounter events similar to those in the Hellhordes. Destroy what’s in front of you, and you might receive an optional Infernal Gift before facing the final boss. Increase the difficulty, and you’ll be rewarded accordingly with Burning Aether. Weigh your decisions carefully, as a stronger fight will be rewarded with filled treasure chests or a quick death.
Spend your Burning Aether on chests at the end of the Hellbreak dungeon, as this coveted currency disappears once you leave the dungeon.
Collect Over 50 Hellish New Unique and Legendary Items
The forges of the Burning Hells are working overtime, producing weapons with incredible capabilities. The Season of Infernal Hordes features over 50 new powerful unique and legendary items that will grant you unprecedented power. Note that these weapons are permanent and will be available in both realms after the season ends. Combat experts say that many of these weapons have properties that summon the Burning Hells from which they were forged.
All of these new unique and legendary items can be earned by defeating enemies throughout Sanctuary. However, the chance of obtaining weapons with infernal qualities is highest in the Vaults of Hell within the Infernal Hordes. Obtain these new weapons of infernal power to make your Wanderer a worthy champion of Hell.
Satisfy the Hatred in Seasonal and Eternal Questlines
While threats loom in Nahantu, the Lord of Hatred’s servants are rising across Sanctuary. You can tackle the new hordes of Hell in both realms. In the Seasonal Realm, they build on a seasonal questline, and in the Eternal Realm, the feature is accessible after a short new questline.
In both realms, you will unlock a new questline at World Tier III that introduces the Infernal Hordes. In the Seasonal Realm, you will experience a questline in World Tiers I and II to guide you through seasonal progression and content. Continue progressing through seasonal content to unlock the Infernal Hordes questline at World Tier III and earn even more seasonal rewards.
In the Seasonal Realm, you can advance your seasonal progression through the new questline at World Tier I or II. Progress to World Tier III to continue your seasonal progression and unlock the Infernal Hordes feature. In the Eternal Realm, you only need to reach World Tier III to start the questline that introduces Infernal Hordes.
Seasonal Questline: Of Lambs and Wolves
For the trained mind, peace is nothing but a brief respite. A blade that is not sharpened rusts over time. And a disciple whose determination is not unshakable will eventually lose their way.
In the Season of Infernal Hordes, seasonal progression begins at World Tier I or II to help your character get started on the road to glory. Head to Zarbinzet and speak to Leader Cireska to begin this seasonal questline and unlock seasonal progression.

New Seasonal and Eternal Questline: The Eyes of the Enemy
This season introduces the wave-based Infernal Hordes feature, which unlocks during Eyes of the Enemy. This questline serves as your gateway into Infernal Hordes and is available in both Eternal and Seasonal Realms. In the Seasonal Realm, you can continue your seasonal progress from Of Lambs and Wolves.
To begin this quest chain, head to Hawezar at World Tier III and investigate a commotion among the townspeople. This questline will remain available in both realms after the Season of Infernal Hordes ends. You only need to complete the questline once per account. Note that this questline does not apply to Hardcore characters.
Slaughter the Elite of Hell in the Seasonal Realm
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, but friends have always been scarce in the face of evil forces. Discover the threats to mortals this season through the seasonal quest line. Join forces with those who once had opposing motives to yours. Uncover the intentions of those operating from the shadows and test the limits of your trust.
In the Season of Infernal Hordes, advance your seasonal progression by collecting chests looted from powerful servants of Hell, including elites, champions, Hellbloods, and bosses. The best places to find these enemies are the Hellbreak dungeons and the Infernal Hordes. Completing seasonal progression for the Season of Infernal Hordes will reward you with a Magnificent Spark.
Once you’ve unlocked seasonal progression, the Infernal Hordes are one of the best ways to increase your standing during the season, and defeating powerful Infernals will also earn you chests.
Updates to Infernal Tide, Legendary Item Drop Rates, and More
Sanctuary is plagued by numerous sinister plots that gradually unfold, although not everything that emerges benefits the cruel whims of your enemies.

Eternal and Seasonal Realm
Infernal Flood
In Helltide, Doomhearts now drop more frequently from chests and world bosses and are guaranteed to drop from Helltide Commanders. The cost of fighting the Blood Maiden has been reduced on World Tiers I and II, and Tormented Gifts now cost 75 Embers.
Unique Items
All unique items in the game have been updated. With the Season of Infernal Hordes, the goal was to make unique items special again and ensure they are critical to their respective builds. Unique items should now be the best for the skills they support, with affixes that excel in their respective slots. Unique items cannot be tempered, so they need to compete with affixes that can be.
Our approach to balancing considers items as a whole: they have random stats, but affixes are geared towards their unique aspects. Check out the Diablo IV Season of Infernal Hordes patch notes here on August 1 at 10 PM BST for details on these changes.
Mythical Unique Items
Super-unique items will now be referred to as Mythic Unique items. They will drop with a distinctive beam of light if you encounter one in your raid.
Legendary Items
Legendary item drop rates are increased during Helltide, Nightmare Dungeons, and Hellhordes after level 100.
Experience Gained
The additional base experience received from defeating monsters above your level has been increased from 10 to 30 levels above your current level. This allows for more experience gain as your Unrest and Triumph levels increase.
To clarify: The experience gained consists of base experience and bonus experience. Bonus experience remains unchanged at up to 15%, with a maximum of 10 levels above your current character level. The new update allows base experience to increase up to a limit of 30 levels above your current character level.
An Example:
• Previously: A level 60 character kills a level 80 monster = experience for a level 70 monster + bonus experience
• Now: A level 60 character kills a level 80 monster = experience for a level 80 monster + bonus experience
Enchant
Enchantments no longer require Angel’s Breath but instead require recycling corresponding legendary items.
Loss of Control Effects
Control loss effects caused by enemies have been reduced, and you can now use potions while affected by them.
Seasonal Realm
For those craving a greater challenge, Desecrated Mind Cages are back and can stack up to 3 times, allowing you to fight enemies up to 30 levels above you in your Helltide! Use these potent consumables to elevate the difficulty and carnage to new levels.
Earn Rewards with the Season Journey and Battle Pass
As you carve a path through demonic entrails, you’ll earn rewards from the Season Journey and Battle Pass.
The Season Journey is divided into chapters with their own quests. Progressing through the Season Journey will earn you rewards worthy of defenders of Sanctuary, including new Legendary Aspects and three Scrolls of Amnesia, which allow you to reset your skill tree and Paragon Board once for free. The Journey also earns Favor, the resource used to level up the Battle Pass, which can also be obtained from other game aspects.
The Season of Infernal Hordes Battle Pass begins August 6 at 3:00 PM GMT-4 and consists of 90 reward tiers (28 free and 62 premium).
When you get the Premium Battle Pass, you’ll receive rewards from the free tiers as well as Awakened Nemesia armor sets, platinum, and more. This includes the Awakened Nemesia Barding mount armor, Awakened Ethereal Steed mount, and Soulfire Bowl mount trophy, which unlock at level 90.
Smoldering Ashes from free tiers can be spent on seasonal blessings that provide helpful bonuses to combat the armies of Hell. There are two new blessings for the Season of Infernal Hordes: • Urn of Loot: Increases the chance of obtaining a legendary item from Hell’s Treasure Chests found while fighting the Hell Hordes. • Urn of Abyssal Knowledge: Increases the chance of receiving an Abyssal Scroll from Hell’s Treasure Chests found while fighting the Hell Hordes.
The bonuses granted by the five seasonal blessings are valid only until the end of the Infernal Hordes Season. The accelerated unlock of the season-specific Battle Pass also includes 20 level jumps and the Infernal Birthright emote. If you get Season 5 of Diablo 4 (buy now €81.56), look out for more details.
