Microsoft wanted to test some new features and an advertising banner for the Xbox Game Pass with the update KB5039302. However, the preview patch seems to be causing serious problems.

Apparently, some PCs are caught in a boot loop due to the update. “After the updates are installed, some systems may no longer boot properly,” Microsoft explained in an information post. “Affected systems may reboot repeatedly and require recovery operations to restore normal operation.”
According to Microsoft, systems that use virtualization features such as Cloud PC, Devbox, Azure Virtual Desktop, or Nested Virtualization are more frequently affected. “We are currently investigating under which exact conditions this problem can occur,” Microsoft says. Owners of Windows 11 Home are less likely to be affected because virtualization techniques are simply not used as often on these systems.
The company has also temporarily stopped all further updates of this type. This applies to the Windows Update and Windows Update for Business services. “For this reason, the update may not be available for your device,” Microsoft writes. Testers should initially not receive any more updates and thus not observe any further boot problems in this context.
Microsoft will inform users as soon as a fix for the bug has been deployed. This will then be distributed in a future update. In the meantime, affected users will probably only have to resort to recovery options.
