According to 91Mobiles, the Apple Watch X will feature a 2-inch screen, the largest of any previous model. Supply chain sources have leaked supposed renders of the casing. CAD files suggest that Apple’s next smartwatch will not differ much from what we are accustomed to.
Judging by the images, the Apple Watch has the Digital Crown, microphone, and side button on the right side of the body, while the back reveals space allocated for the optical and electrical heart rate sensors, as well as the speaker and air outlet.
One of the most persistent rumors about the Apple Watch involves Mark Gurman, a journalist from Bloomberg. He reported a few months ago that Apple plans to introduce a magnetic mechanism. This would allow straps to attach using magnets, potentially freeing up space on the watch’s body.
However, leaked renders do not show any signs of this feature. The edges still include gaps for sliding in the straps. It’s possible that the magnetic system won’t arrive until 2025, as Gurman predicts, or it could simply be that these files don’t reflect the actual design of the Apple Watch.
Apple Watch X or Apple Watch Series 10?
Another significant rumor revolves around the inclusion of a microLED screen in the next Apple Watch. This technology aims to enhance screen visibility on sunny days, addressing issues caused by natural lighting that can obscure screen elements.
It’s worth noting that sources differ on the specifications and naming of the upcoming Apple Watch. Ming-Chi Kuo recently indicated that the Apple Watch Series 10 will introduce significant design and size changes. The analyst mentions a slimmer body and a larger screen for the smartwatch.
Kuo refers to the 2024 model as the “Apple Watch Series 10,” succeeding the current model set to debut in September. On the other hand, the Apple Watch X is purportedly a special edition marking the tenth anniversary of its launch. Cupertino may announce this version by the end of the year or in 2025.
Regardless of the specifics, one thing is certain: a new Apple Watch is set to arrive in 2024.
