Vivo is getting ready to release a top-notch smartphone to compete with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in China. Supposedly named the Vivo X100 Ultra, this new model is expected to bring enhancements compared to other devices in the lineup, like the Vivo X100 Pro. One notable improvement could be in its camera system.

As per information leaked by Digital Chat Station this Saturday (04), the Vivo X100 Ultra is undergoing testing with a periscopic lens designed for optical zoom. It boasts a 1/1.4” sensor and an impressive 200 MP resolution, potentially making it one of the most powerful cameras in the market. This camera is said to have an f/2.67 lens aperture and support hybrid zoom of up to 100x.
While the market abounds with smartphones flaunting powerful camera specs for long-distance photography, none of them match a sensor as large as 1/1.4” or a resolution of 200 MP. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra features a periscopic lens with a sensor size of just 1/2.52” and 50 MP.
The leaker highlights that the smartphone is still in its development phase, so there’s a possibility of hardware changes as the manufacturer progresses with the project. There are reports suggesting that companies are also experimenting with periscopic cameras equipped with 1/1.3” sensors and 50 MP resolution, which could be another potential option for the Vivo X100 Ultra.
Previous leaks also indicate that the new high-end smartphone from the Chinese brand will sport a 6.78-inch screen supplied by BOE, featuring AMOLED technology and a 1.5K resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, coupled with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
Vivo has yet to confirm the launch of the new model, so we’ll have to rely on leaks and speculation until the product is officially revealed.
