Android 15 Unveiled: Exciting Features and Release Timeline Revealed

Google has officially announced the development of Android 15 following the release of Android 14. The tech giant introduced the first Developer Preview, allowing developers to acquaint themselves with the upcoming version. Android 15 is slated for release in the latter half of 2024.

In a recent article by Dave Burke, VP of Android Engineering, key features of Android 15 were unveiled. These include enhancements in productivity, media experiences, battery optimization, app performance, and user privacy and security. Google aims to leverage premium device hardware, such as advanced cameras, GPUs, displays, and AI processing, to elevate the Android experience.

Additional Features and Improvements

Early testers of Android 15 Developer Preview have unearthed additional features beyond the official announcements. These include:

  • Ability to disable keyboard vibrations.
  • Slight vibrations when adjusting brightness levels.
  • Notification volume control.
  • Continue using apps on folding phones like the Pixel Fold.
  • Potential return of widgets to the lock screen.
  • Option to archive applications.
