Intel might be gearing up to launch a new desktop processor targeting overclocking enthusiasts. This hardware, reportedly named “Core i9-14900KS,” is expected to be unveiled next week as the most powerful CPU in the 14th generation Core family, potentially boasting clock speeds of up to 6.2 GHz.

On Wednesday (28), a new leak by momomo_us revealed the possible technical specifications of the Core i9-14900KS. The processor surfaced on a retail website, reaffirming its extremely high frequency, surpassing the 6 GHz range. To achieve this, the model is said to have a base TDP of 150W — even higher than the base power of the Core i9-14900K, which is 125W.

The Core i9-14900KS is expected to feature the same configuration of 24 cores and 32 threads as the standard version of the CPU, along with 36MB of L3 cache and 32MB of L2 cache. The base frequency will also be 3.2 GHz; however, the high-performance cores of the platform will be able to reach an unprecedented factory clock speed of 6.2 GHz.

As mentioned, the base power will be 150W, but the CPU may reach a second power level (PL2) of around 300W. Like the 12th and 13th generation processors, the model will be manufactured with the “Intel 7” lithography — formerly known as “10 nanometers” — and will be supported by the LGA 1700 socket.

Intel has not yet confirmed the launch of the Core i9-14900KS, but it’s worth noting that the manufacturer has released special editions of its fastest processor in 2022 and 2023. Therefore, it’s highly likely that the company will conclude its hardware releases compatible with the LGA 1700 socket in grand style.

For this year, Intel is also expected to introduce the “Arrow Lake-S” generation of desktop processors with the “Intel 3” lithography and dedicated AI cores.
