Samsung foldable screens have received yet another credential confirming their durability. According to information from The Elec portal, the company’s 7-inch foldable panels underwent tests according to the MIL-STD 810G military standard, recognized by the United States Department of Defense.

Even though the displays of foldable devices are less resistant compared to traditional versions, this novelty remains interesting. After all, this military certification means that the component has undergone a series of tests. Here is an excerpt from the brand’s screen evaluation:
“In the test, the foldable panel functioned normally even after the panel’s exterior was frozen in 6 mm thick ice by water spraying in a -10 degrees Celsius environment, and this state was maintained for 4 hours. There were no performance issues in a test where the device endured an environment of -32 degrees Celsius and +63 degrees Celsius for two consecutive hours and repeated these sudden temperature changes three times over 12 hours.”
For example, the impact test took into account a total of 26 experiments by the evaluators. Moreover, there was even a drop test from a height of 1.22 meters. The company employee who conducted the evaluation also mentioned that there were no issues with the display during outdoor activities.
This could be a positive factor for Apple, which conducted recent tests with Samsung’s foldable phones and, according to rumors, did not approve the result, leading the company to abandon this category. Furthermore, we may expect future releases from the South Korean company to feature increasingly resistant and durable panels.
