A Huawei insider has revealed on Weibo that the Chinese phone manufacturer is planning to hold an event in February to celebrate the New Year and introduce a “new small foldable product” with the codename “LEM,” according to Gizmochina.

According to sources, pre-orders for the device may begin shortly after the Chinese New Year, on February 10. Details about the upcoming device are still scarce. However, there are rumors that this new foldable phone is set to include Huawei’s in-house 5G Kirin chipset.

According to IThome, which received information from Weibo, the mysterious device will be positioned in the mid-range territory, akin to Huawei’s Nova series.
The insider did not specify if Huawei’s upcoming foldable will be of the Fold or Flip type. However, given the buzz about it being a “small” foldable, it’s safe to assume that it’s a flip phone. Moreover, it seems that this upcoming device will be limited to China.

Huawei’s Foldable Lineup
Huawei has a trio of foldable smartphone lines in the market. The Huawei Mate X and Mate Xs are the flagship models. The X models unfold like a book, while the Xs variants fold outwards.
Meanwhile, the Huawei Pocket series is a flip-style smartphone similar to the Galaxy Z Flip lineup. Therefore, Huawei’s next foldable will likely belong to this series.
