PS5 Pro Set to Arrive in September 2024 with Sony’s Own DLSS, Insider Reveals

Jeff Grubb, the journalist and insider from Giant Bomb, has confirmed on this Friday (15) the claims that Sony is diligently working on a swifter version of the PS5 (PS5 Pro), slated for release by the end of 2024, featuring a proprietary equivalent to DLSS developed by the Japanese tech giant.

“This leak about the PS5 Pro is almost certainly real based on what I’ve currently heard, and obviously I’m not the only one saying this, but I can throw my ‘confirmed, confirmed, confirmed’ out there for everyone to hear,” stated Grubb, asserting afterward that the console “likely” arrives in September 2024.

“The current specifications are based on a series of possibilities because they haven’t actually been fully defined,” he affirmed.

“The big news here, in this case, the significant feature this system will support, is Sony’s proprietary solution akin to DLSS, where they employ their own machine learning to enhance images, enabling them to run things at a really high resolution and a high frame rate, and they would include their own hardware in the PS5 Pro to accomplish this.”

“That’s where the twice-as-fast Ray Tracing acceleration via hardware comes into play, but they would be able to do even more than just better ray tracing via hardware. So, yes, this is likely happening.”

DLSS stands as the upscaling solution for NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX graphics cards, utilizing AI to upscale game resolution, allowing enhanced performance and visual quality on less potent hardware.

Should Sony indeed be working on a PS5 Pro that delivers something akin to DLSS via hardware, the performance boost for games supporting this is anticipated to be considerable.
