Google Pixel 8 Pro Equipped with Gemini AI

The anticipation for December’s Pixel smartphone update has paid off. Google, without much forewarning, has integrated the Gemini AI, touted by Google to effortlessly compete with ChatGPT.

The Pixel 8 Pro (Test) comes equipped with the basic tier, Gemini Nano, paving the way for entirely new capabilities, some exclusively available on the Pro model:

  • The Pixel 8 Pro can summarize recordings within the Recorder app in written form. This is made possible by Gemini Nano, operating locally on the device without an internet connection. (Initially available only in English)
  • Owners of the Pixel 8 Pro are presented with a powerful tool through video optimization. Videos are uploaded to the cloud and optimized using highly robust computational models, promising significantly enhanced video output.
  • Video Boost with night vision functionality, showcased during the Pixel 8 Pro presentation, is now set for integration. This aims to ensure videos look good even in challenging lighting conditions.
  • Both the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 will feature night vision functionality in time-lapse recordings, requiring the use of a tripod.

Numerous additional functionalities are slated to arrive on nearly all supported Pixel devices:

  • Improved portrait lighting in Google Photos.
  • Enhanced photo sharpening capabilities.
  • The Pixel Fold enables dual-screen previews while capturing photos, allowing photographed individuals to see themselves.
  • Pixel smartphones can serve as webcams when connected to a PC via USB.
  • The “Cleanup” function enables the removal of spots from documents or receipts scanned using the Pixel device.
  • The password manager now operates more efficiently, recognizing accounts utilizing passkeys.
  • Google activates Repair Mode on Pixel devices, safeguarding your data when sent for repairs.
  • The Pixel Watch serves as an easy unlock tool for Pixel phones.
  • The Pixel Tablet uses AI to reduce background noise during video calls.
  • Spatial Audio support is now available on the Pixel Tablet.
  • Google consolidates weather and clock widgets.
  • Pixel Watch 1 can now sync with the Pixel phone, akin to Pixel Watch 2, enabling cross-device activation of the “Do Not Disturb” mode.

The rollout of December’s feature drops for Pixel devices has commenced and will gradually reach devices. New functionalities will be available starting from Pixel 5(a), Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Watch 1.
