Qualcomm has recently updated its series 7 chips lineup. The American manufacturer introduced the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 on Friday, aiming to become the core of mid-range mobile phones arriving in the upcoming months, partnering with various phone makers.

Qualcomm’s Approach to Mid-Range Power and AI

In the mid-range sector, a noticeable shift towards more powerful devices has been ongoing. Qualcomm chips have played a role in this transformation. The new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 follows suit, featuring a four-core SoC reaching speeds up to 2.64 GHz, coupled with a robust Adreno GPU. Qualcomm pledges a 15% CPU performance boost and a whopping 50% graphical enhancement. Moreover, energy efficiency sees a 20% improvement, and AI-related tasks exhibit a 60% better performance per watt, highlighting a smart balance between power and energy efficiency.

Connectivity and Multimedia Features

Regarding connectivity, the SoC integrates a Snapdragon X63-RF modem and FastConnect 6700 system. It supports 5G/4G DSDA networks with speeds up to 5 Gbps, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2 with major audio codecs for wireless playback. The Qualcomm Spectra enhances the camera setup, enabling 4K HDR video capture and AI assistance for better image quality. For gaming enthusiasts, the Adreno GPU allows gaming at up to 144 fps.

Market Arrival and Adoption

According to Qualcomm, Honor and Vivo are among the brands set to adopt this SoC. The exciting news is the imminent arrival of devices featuring the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, expected to be announced as early as this month.
