Meta has announced its quarterly financial results, during which Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the Threads app has around 100 million active users.
This comes as a response to speculations that the service isn’t performing well, and the initial wave of popularity has declined, but that’s not quite the case. Threads was announced in July of this year and quickly amassed tens of millions of users. The app is similar to Twitter, and it’s Meta’s vision to compete with Elon Musk.
As revealed by Zuckerberg, Meta’s plans include reaching a user base of one billion for the Threads service. Their vision is to create a more positive platform for sharing opinions and communication compared to Twitter. However, Threads is still not available in Europe, which limits the number of active users, but Meta has plans to launch it in our part of the world.
Additionally, the company has indicated that Threads development is planned for several years. After the initial three-month period, it’s clear that the app is maturing and evolving. During this time, a web version has been developed, and users can edit their posts for free. Furthermore, Meta has had a successful financial quarter, with a revenue of 34 billion dollars, representing a 23% increase compared to the previous year.
