Matter 1.2 Version : Improved Smart Home Device Management

Matter is a unified protocol designed to provide convenient collaboration and management capabilities for various smart home devices. You won’t have to have a separate app for every smart light bulb and toaster; Matter’s plans aim to make it easy and straightforward to manage smart devices in your home using your existing Wi-Fi network. Furthermore, Matter promises that all device control will be local, without relying on the cloud, which is likely an old server located somewhere in Asia. We haven’t been able to verify this yet, though.

The idea is appealing – users won’t have to rely on external services; instead, Matter ensures that home management is independent of large corporations and server stability.

Matter 1.1 has already brought together 1,214 different Matter-certified smart devices, but Matter 1.2 will bring support for an even wider range of devices. At the same time, Matter 1.2 will offer a broader range of remote capabilities with smart devices.

One of the most noticeable benefits of Matter 1.2 is the ability of smart vacuum cleaners to report errors and their entanglement in cords, rugs, etc. New devices in the form of wine cabinets will also be added to the list of supported appliances.

Thermostats have been around since Matter 1.0, but now various home-user air conditioning and heating devices are joining in. Dishwashers and washing machines will be able to display the progress of programs, as well as any significant errors.

New features will also appear for air quality sensors, air filters, smart fans, and smoke detectors.
