Sony has published a patent imagining a joystick with a compartment for charging wireless earbuds. In the schematics discovered by the Game Rant portal, the controller, possibly for PlayStation 5, features a slot for charging these accessories, and based on the drawings, they would fit below the region where the touchpad is on the DualSense.
The patent also shows other potential locations for fitting the earbuds. Various drawings depict the earbuds fitted below the touchpad but in different positions. Another suggests they be inserted into the handles.
The patent illustrates that the joystick would function both as a means of storing the earbuds when not in use and of charging them, serving a dual purpose.
Being only a patent, it is impossible to assert whether Sony is actually working on such a controller or if the patent is more of a repository for a good idea that may not come to fruition. With the recent release of the INZONE Buds and the upcoming PlayStation Explore earbuds, a controller like this makes complete sense.
Although it seems like a good idea, there is no guarantee that Sony will ever release such a controller. All it is is a way for Sony to secure this idea before other companies do the same thing with the same type of technology.
