The Google Pixel 8 series marks a new era of Google support for its phones, with a guaranteed 7 years of Android updates. Google has recently announced that it will provide even more comprehensive support for both models, ensuring replacement parts will be available until 2030.
Google Pixel 8 Series: Guaranteed Replacement Parts and Support
In their official blog, Google states that they will offer replacement parts for seven years after the release of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The aim is to ensure the longevity of the phones, allowing users to replace components such as screens, glass backs, batteries, and more in case of breakage or wear.
Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are the first phones to launch with the new Android 14. Google will also extend hardware support and make parts available for seven years to match the software commitment. The result? You can be sure that your Pixel becomes even more useful over time.

Confirmation of Commitment
A Google representative confirmed this commitment in a conversation with Android Authority, although they did not disclose how the parts will be provided. However, it’s possible that the strategy will be similar to that used for the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold, where parts are supplied through iFixit.
Adhering to the Law – Google Pixel 8 Series
This new Google policy aligns with the recently passed Electronic Right to Repair Law in the California State Assembly. This law mandates that companies provide parts, documentation, and software for products costing $100 or more for seven years. Equipment priced between $50 and $99.99 must have guaranteed support for at least three years.

Google Pixel 8 Series: Leading in Support Duration
With this change, Google has become the Android phone manufacturer with the longest support duration for updates, followed by Fairphone with 5 major updates for the Fairphone 5, and Samsung with 4 years of updates for various phones in the Galaxy S and A series.
We hope that other manufacturers will follow Google’s significant step towards environmental responsibility, as repairing phones and keeping them functional for longer means reducing electronic waste and increasing consumer satisfaction with their products.
