Assassin’s Creed Mirage may have received Denuvo in the launch update.

Ubisoft is said to have added the controversial anti-piracy protection Denuvo to the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It’s worth noting that some leaks had mentioned that the game would use this protection. Now, several players report that the feature has been included in the launch update, causing outrage.

DRM technology has been a source of controversy and irritation for gamers for quite some time. According to tests, Denuvo can significantly impact game performance on PC, leading to drops in frame rates and other issues. However, initial tests indicate that performance before and after the patch is the same. Nevertheless, it’s important to remember that the game has technical issues that should be addressed in future updates.

Interestingly, Ubisoft did not mention whether the launch patch includes Denuvo protection or not. It was detailed last Wednesday (04) and brings various fixes and enhancements. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available today for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A native version for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be released in early 2024.

Originally planned as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Mirage follows the journey of the thief Basim, who joins the Hidden Ones and becomes one of the most respected assassins among them. The title harkens back to the franchise’s past, adopting a stealth-focused approach and a smaller scale compared to recent titles.
