X (Twitter) could become a paid service for all users

In a recent conversation between Elon Musk and the Prime Minister of Israel, the CEO of social network X (Twitter) expressed the idea that in the future, the platform will only be available for a fee.

Although initially, this may seem like an unreasonable idea because X, or Twitter, is primarily known for its free usage, Musk justifies it as the only way to combat fake accounts or bots. According to Musk, this is the only way to stop a large number of these accounts. This is because these bots would also have to pay for their usage, which could amount to a substantial sum on a monthly and yearly basis.

Additionally, various payment methods would need to be used for creating fake accounts, making the account creation process more challenging. Of course, the exact monthly fee for using X was not mentioned at this time. During the conversation, Musk revealed that the social network currently has 550 million active users per month, generating between 100 and 200 million posts per day.

So far, many of Musk’s plans regarding X have not been implemented, as the only significant features requiring payment are the acquisition of a blue checkmark and changing one’s username. The blue checkmark can be obtained for $8 per month. It is not precisely known how many users subscribe to this service, but one source suggests slightly more than 827 thousand people.

It appears that the idea of subscription fees from all X users could bring about significant changes and represent a desire to generate revenue from the service.
