Windows-based portable consoles are gaining popularity. After ASUS with the ROG Ally, it’s now Lenovo’s turn to launch the Lenovo Legion Go. What’s interesting is that this gaming device comes with a high refresh rate display.
Specifications of Lenovo Legion Go
The Legion Go features an 8.8-inch touchscreen display with a QHD+ resolution (1600 x 2560 pixels) and a 144Hz refresh rate. Gamers can also lower the resolution to 800p and the refresh rate to 60Hz for more power-efficient usage.
In terms of performance, this console relies on the Ryzen Z1 Series chipset, including options up to Z1 Extreme. It has an RDNA 3 GPU and offers 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 7,500 MHz. For storage, it goes up to 1 TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD (M.2 2242), and it can be expanded using a microSD card up to 2 TB.
To maintain optimal performance, Lenovo has incorporated a liquid polymer blade fan cooling system (maximum 25dB) to keep the temperature in check while running at a TGP of 25W. The console features various I/O ports, including 2x USB Type-C (USB 4.0, DisplayPort 1.4, PD 3.0), a microSD slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack. For wireless connectivity, it offers WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
The console runs on the Windows 11 Home operating system with a special interface called Legion Space. It is powered by a 2-cell 49.2Wh battery, complete with fast charging that can charge up to 70% in just 30 minutes. In the sales package, gamers will receive a 65W PD charger.
In terms of design, the Lenovo Legion Go can be said to be inspired by the Nintendo Switch, as it has a detachable controller called the Legion TrueStrike. Lenovo has even added a controller module that attaches magnetically to the right controller, allowing it to be used like a mouse. This is suitable for playing First-Person Shooter (FPS) games.
