With less than a month left until the release of the new iPhone 15 models, the anticipated Thunderbolt USB-C connection could come with an increase in charging power up to 35W.

Both on our routine discussion on iPhone 15 and in the world of technology in general, there’s frequent discussion about the iPhone’s slow charging, a fact that’s not denied when compared to its competitors. Currently, the iPhone 14 Pro can charge at a maximum rate of 27W, which decreases over time. Meanwhile, regular Apple iPhone models top out at 20W. This is directly related to preserving battery longevity and capacity, although this often leads to rapid decreases in the iPhone’s overall performance.

Recent rumors suggest that with the transition to a USB-C port, the iPhone will be capable of charging at a maximum rate of 35W. However, this power is likely to be used either for charging up to 50% or up to 80%, which means significantly faster charging times in practice. Meanwhile, a lower power will be used for charging up to 100%.

Compared with direct competitors in the premium segment, the Samsung Galaxy line can charge at a maximum rate of up to 45W, while Google Pixel charges at 23W. Looking towards Chinese brands, they have been ahead for quite some time, offering charging capabilities of 80W, 100W, or even higher for their smartphones.
