Samsung on 26 July 2023 in Seoul, South Korea unveiled their latest foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Galaxy Z Fold5. To seek Apple’s dominance Samsung is keeping their prices at the same level for three years in a row.  In 2019, Samsung the largest phone maker company on the globe pioneered the segment of foldable phones offering customers a larger screen and still managing to keep the phone size compact.

Samsung vs Apple Competition, Market Share, and Sales

Samsung with its new unveil, the competition with Apple has become inevitable. Analysts have estimated that the consumer share of foldable phones has risen exponentially in recent years. Foldable phones demand high-end advanced technology making them comparatively more expensive than regular smartphones.

Samsung and Apple are leading phone manufacturers in the world however Apple owns about 75% share of the global phone market in comparison to Samsung’s 15% of phones that cost above $600.Overall Samsung remains the largest phone seller as per units in the world but trails Apple in the revenue. The global market of foldable phones is expected to see a huge surge this year with consumer demand of approximately over 18 million units. The surge is estimated to be 45% more than the last year.

Samsung being the arch-rival in the phone market is continuously challenging Apple in technology and sales. Despite more production costs of foldable phones than regular phones, Samsung with their aggressive pricing is keeping the new Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Galaxy Z Fold5 at the same price level. The unveiling of the phones also comes weeks earlier than last year same was unveiled in September,

Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Galaxy Z Fold5 expected to be a hit will be available in selective markets from Aug 11, 2023
